As cosmetic dental care becomes more mainstream, more people than ever before are asking our team about procedures that can brighten their smiles.
And of course, more people are looking up information online about which cosmetic option may suit them. But as is the way with the internet, many potential cosmetic dental patients are hitting walls of misinformation about procedures, which are putting them off of the idea of cosmetic dental care altogether.
Like most things, it is typically who performs your procedures more than the procedure you are having performed and at Dr Bobby Chhoker, we can help correct and enhance your smile using an array of different techniques. One of our most versatile options, porcelain veneers Bondi Junction, has come under fire in recent times, so we’d like to provide further information to help your decision making process.
So, what are some of the most prevalent myths about porcelain veneers Bondi Junction that you may have read online?
Having them fitted hurts
It really shouldn’t hurt at all!
Having porcelain veneers Bondi Junction should be a simple case of our team taking a scan of your teeth, sending away said scan to a dental laboratory and then receiving the laminates back a few weeks later.
During the fitting, our team will gently sand down the front of the teeth that the laminates are to be attached to. Then, we will place some dental cement onto the teeth and press on the porcelain coverings. No needles or numbing agents are required, so the process itself should be painless.
They look fake
In some instances, yes, laminates can look fake but when we create and fit them at Bondi Junction, we will always aim to make them look as natural as possible.
We can colour match the porcelain to the shade of the enamel on your teeth, helping the laminates to blend in seamlessly. As mentioned before, we can use them to whiten your teeth too, but will only do so if you specifically request it. It’s your smile!
They fall off easily
With correct care and dental hygiene, laminates should easily last for over 15 years. Remember, if you have them fitted and proceed to smoke excessively and consume a lot of alcohol, this can shorten their lifespan.
But if you feel that they are falling off prematurely, come and see our team.
Having them fitted damages your teeth permanently
Again, the only ‘damage’ that laminates will do to your teeth is the minor amount of sanding required to have them fitted. Even when the laminates eventually come off, that alone should not cause damage to the enamel of the tooth.
You can have them fitted overseas and they’ll be cheaper.
You can, but the materials used may not be as high standard as the ones we use in Australia, and so the result may be less impressive and not last as long.
