Clear aligners – how do they work?

Clear plastic aligners are highly convenient and a popular choice amongst adults who are looking to address the aesthetic issues of their teeth. You will need to speak to Dr Bobby Chhoker and undergo an examination of your teeth and gums to make sure that they are clean and healthy, and that there are no underlying issues which may be affected by moving your teeth. The aligners are made out of thermoplastic and are comfortable to wear, as they are individually manufactured according to three-dimensional scans of your teeth and gums to make sure they fit accurately and precisely for a successful end result. They work as a series and need to be worn in your mouth for approximately 22 hours of the day for around two weeks at a time and then you move onto the next aligner in the series, until your teeth are neatly aligned and symmetrical according to your individual treatment plan.

Clear aligners work by placing gradual pressure on your teeth and can be taken out of your mouth and placed back in as necessary, which means they are highly convenient and do not affect your daily lifestyle. Eating habits can also remain the same, as the aligners need to be removed at meal times anyway, however teeth should always be spotless before aligners are replaced. They also allow you to clean your teeth effectively and with regular visits to your dentist, you can make sure that the treatment is coming along successfully and that your teeth and gums remain healthy and clean throughout the treatment process. Speak to our cosmetic dentist Bondi Junction today to find out more about clear aligners and how they can improve the appearance of your smile and improve the health of your teeth at the same time.

All treatment carries risks. Individual consultation is required with one of our practitioners to ensure that the treatment is right for you.
